6:30pm. Getting chilly on the deck of M's room at the Inn. On another deck a man sits with one foot up on a chair, knee bent, holding an open book in his lap. He doesn't turn the pages. The image is so inviting that I take out my notebook.

Nothing better than just sitting out in your senses with an open book or notebook in your lap.

M. asks me almost immediately, "what are you going to do?"
Like, how many sentences are you going to write, how many words. She gets up, like, if you're going to pick up your pen I'm going inside. "None", of course, is the only appropriate answer to this conscious-making scrutiny of my otherwise organic as the weather activity. What am I going to do? Nothing! Whether or not I write, it is nothing.

I don't know if I will write any sentences. Or one sentence. Or even a word. Or several. Ever.

This is what I write.

I don't know if I should be offended or intrigued?!

Off the back cover:

"The Bronc crashed
bedrooms the way he crashed lines, and the college town was strewn with his conquests:

Mary, the coach's wife. The Bronc tught her a new sport-requiring private practice sessions at a motel.

Leslie, his roommate's girl. The Bronc let her tutor him off probabtio - and right into bed.

Paige, wealthy young co-ed. The Bronc showed her that in sex as in atheletics, all that counted was the score.

To the Bronc they were all women and they all could be had. He came, he saw, he conquered - except in one case. Her name was Doris Jane. She was as willful as the Bronc but in a different way. It took an orgiastic brawl to convince him she could not be had except on her own terms.

When the irresistable lover meets the immovable lovely - what happens?
